Call a Bikur Cholim and see if they'd like them for their hospital visits, that's whjat we did.

I would just try the local hospital. If you are in NY, go to Maimonidies - there's a Bikur Cholim room on the first floor.

I have connections to Satmar Bikur Cholim. If you are interested I can post an address and shipping method of how to send them to me.
Some of the beanie babies do well on ebay I don't know though which ones and if they still do well, just a suggestion.

Well, in a few weeks we will be having the annual APFED conference, for families affected by eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases. Many of the children affected are Jewish (I know of more than 10 personally, and there are obviously many more around the world). At the conference, along with the packets of lecture materials, they will be giving out "Teddy the Tummy" dolls this year, the emblem of a book published last year explaining EG diseases to children, including why they cannot eat, generally have gastrostomy tubes or permanent IV sites, what happens when they are sick, why they are frequently hospitalized, etc.

If you would like to donate the beanie babies to also be distributed to the children at the conference, you can send them to APFED:

APFED is a 501(c)3 so you can take this as a tax deduction if you choose.

The conferences are great. It is hard to believe the whole thing is pulled off by a group of mothers of sick children who give their time and energy to others. You cannot imagine how well-run and organized the whole thing is.
