My dd is 8 months and her favorite game right now is to play with any box with lots of things in that she can easily take the lid off and take the things out.

My 8.5 month old ds loves anything that is NOT a toy. He has lots of toys that he completely ignores for the most part, and spends most of his day playing with every household item he can get his hands on. Special points for the iphone and anything with a cord.

If he does decide to play with a toy, it's generally one that makes noise when he shakes it, or a book.

We have an older version of this and my baby (almost 9 months) loves it (as did her older siblings)

Her favorite non-toy is the Mishpacha or Binah - she loves ripping off the back cover and manages to reach it and grab it in a second! Her other favorite is grabbing off her big brother's glasses Smile

I'm with everyone else here. At that age, my babies always like to rip apart magazines, play with phones or other 'forbidden' items LOL, and love love love to take things out/put things into containers.

DS loves yanking out my laptop cord, unfortunately! His other favorite activity is untying DH's tzitzit strings...

My kids played with the triangle until they were 1.5 or so. It has different activities on it. It's simple, but they like it.

Haha! Ditto with my 7.5 m.o.! (Although in her case it's a full-sized toothbrush)
Other things, some mentioned above:

DH's tzitzis (eating them)
Magazines (ripping them apart)
A real toy: Those rings on the stick (this: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-P.....r=1-5)
Cheerios (it's a whole activity for her to eat them - I give them to her to distract her)
Me (she uses me as a prop to stand up, as a jungle gym, as a teether...)
