Is any toothpaste known to have treif ingredients? I don't eat it, but I wouldn't want it in my mouth either Wink I usually use the ones with a hechsher.

I don't know about "treif" but I do know that I was told to stick to plain, no added flavored, toothpaste because a lot of the flavored ones have problems. Though, I do know that many hold that it doesn't matter because you're not eating it... So, I guess to be safe you're best sticking with a plain one (like Crest Tartar Protection "Plain Paste"), or one with a hechsher.

I was actually also curious. I only use Toms of Maine (has an OU) but I was wondering if there is any actual known tarfus in toothepaste, although most Rabbonim hold it's fine to use anyway since you don't eat it.

some have glycerin which can be from animal or vegetable sources, so an ingredient listing of glycerin does not automatically mean tref.

a long time ago when I asked. I was told that all colgates are fine since then I stick with colgate only... (my dentist told me that colgate total is the best)...

Rabbi Bluminkrantz's book has a list of toothpastes that are kosher or treife.
