It's the first time I am cooking for yom tov...which noodles should I use for cabbage and noodles? The squares, the bow ties, mini bow ties??

I use the bowties.
I know some pple. like to use elbows for Rh as they resemble shofars...

All noodles you mentioned are ok. I like to use the spiral types. The cabbage gets caught in the spiral and it is wonderful. Enjoy!

-12 oz. noodles, cooked, rinsed and drained
-16 oz. shredded cabbage, sauteed on tiny flame for 1 hour (keep it covered, it smells)
-sugar, salt and pepper to taste (2 Tbsp sugar, 1-1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper - can add more or less)

I believe the way it goes in my fam is the large wide egg noodles as posted above. I think my grandmother even breaks them into shorter pieces. I never 'liked' them, but then again may never have tried them......
