I'm doing a shabbos lunch sheva brachos in my house next week for 45 people (there are 7 hostesses dividing costs, but for various reasons, I'm doing most of the work), and would like to make sure I've got all bases covered. Any suggestions are very welcome.

The planned menu is:
Wine-Grape Juice

Homemade Seudah Challah & individual bakery rolls

Plated appetizer of sesame salmon cubes with angel hair pasta & lettuce salad

3 salads in bowls on the table: lettuce/apple/walnut salad; coleslaw & whole wheat couscous salad

Main course served family style:
cholent
corned beef
schnitzel
potato kugel (hot overnight in oven)
carrot muffins
cranberry crunch

Plated dessert -- probably pareve cheesecake, but that's not 100% yet.

Fruit & cookie platters

We're using real tablecloths, china, flatware and glasses with paper napkins. I have a cleaning lady to wash dishes, clean up, help serve and clear if needed (probably not between the 7 hostesses and 3-4 teenagers that will be here).

Centerpieces are bud vases with fresh flowers. I'm making simple napkin rings of mini-silk flowers.

We're buying soda.

It's quite a while since I've done one of these in my home (we usually are hosts in a restaurant type setting), so I want to be sure I haven't missed anything.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Do you have enough chairs? Place to put coats?

Does everyone have to wash? What about crackers or other mezonos for people who don't want to wash.

Why only one fish? Not everyone likes salmon. For example, I'm allergic to it.

sounds good, like what my mother did for my dd's sheva brochos. You could have gefilte fish slices on a platter, for anyone who doesn't want the salmon, you wouldn't need that much of it.

I have enough chairs and I've got coat racks.

Since it's Shabbos lunch, everyone will be washing (in our circles it isn't done otherwise).

Good thought about the fish, but since I'd need to make the alternative, it probably won't happen, though I'll have extra gefilte fish from Friday night and can offer that if someone doesn't want the salmon.

Thanks.

Are you having anyone just for dessert?

Sounds great. I would possible add some kind of dip/dips on the table to go with the challah rolls. Chatzillim, matbucha, olive dip, etc.

It really isn't likely (I know the crowd and family very, very well), but if they do, there'll be plently of dessert, fruit & mezonos (and mashke) available as well as plenty of chairs.

Good idea. I actually wanted to do at least choummous and matbucha, but there seems to be a shortage of matbucha here (and we've got plenty of Osem Onion Soup Mix!).

I'll note that on my shopping list.

Thanks.

Thanks so much. While I'll except the mazel tov, the sheva brachos is for very close friends, not family.

Thank you -- yes, enough benchers for around 3 times that number (all from my kids' chasunahs -- after 11 we've got lots of benchers).

I am planning to do everything possible in advance --- that's my normal operating style.

It sounds wonderful!

I'd personally like a vegetable - either green salad or other. I know you have salads on the table but it sounds like two have mayo and one is couscous, which is a starch. But you have so many things already ...

Suggest you have bottled water in addition to soda.

Mazel tov! (even though it's for friends. And simchas by you, too!)

Mmmm... sounds delicious, definitely variety... do you think you can have bottled water for those who don't want to drink the soda? eta: I see someone suggested that. Enjoy- hope you don't work too hard!
