Hi all,

I have a London Broil cut of meat and I've never cooked one before, any suggestions?

Do you have a grill (not a george forman type but a real one)? I normally do it on there and rarely use my broiler. If you do have one I can give you a simple recipe for on there. Its really good.

I actually make mine on the George. So long as it has the floating fringe, it works. My broiler *always* sets off the smoke detector, so its the quieter alternative.

you can use a frying pan to broil meat. Never made london broil but I have done steaks and lambchops in the frying pan.

london broil is typically a tough cut of meat unless cooked to a perfect medium rare. since I never seem to get these things right, I've had success treating it like a roast and baking it at a lower temperature for a longer time.

I usually throw some montreal or kansas steak seasoning all over the meat, then bake it covered at 325 until it's very tender, probably 2 hours.

Yes, but it won't have the broiled/grilled taste. You can make great shredded beef with a london broil in the slow cooker.

Or you can make it like a roast in the oven.

Or place the oven rack as close to the heat source as possible, set the oven to broil, and then broil the london broil right there, 5" from the oven fire.

London broil makes a terrific teriyaki stir-fry. Cut into thin strips, marinate in equal parts soy sauce, sugar, and sake (or white wine) for 15 minutes, and stir-fry 1/2 a pound at a time just till cooked. Boil the marinade and use as sauce. Wonderful over white rice.

I just bake it like a roast in the oven on 350 & it comes out great. Sometimes I use a mixture of OJ & ketchup & I put a bay leaf on the meat while baking & it's very tasty. Thanks for reminding me that I have to prepare mine!

Good yom tov/chag sameach to all Smile!!
