I wonder where people buy baby outfits for gifts. I go to kings plaza to macys for the carters stuff, and its such a shlep. where can I buy cute stuff more locally?

bnm, but Century is also a shlep... I dunno, my husband works on sundays and I dont ever seem to find enough time to shop... yummymummy, my price range is like $10-$20 for like a one-piece newborn-ish outfit... or maybe $25 for a newborn-friendly two piece outfit... by Newborn, I mean 0-3 mnths, 3-6 mnths, or 6-9 mnths...

I find it easier to go to Manhattan then to Centry and Kings Plaza. Carters has a website in case you didn't know.

Baby's r us, also at caesars bay has adorable clothes at reasonable prices. They carry Carters too.

hi ra-mom :-) , thanks!! what kind of store is Little Imports? ok, I guess its a baby clothing store. but like generally very Boro Park-y clothes (if youre familiar with the term), or more casual stuff?

They have Boro Park-y clothes, but you can find some that are not. They are usually great for accessories like blankets, hats, booties, pacifier clips... which are all nice gifts.
FYI, sometimes it's great to buy a few gifts at a time when you're out anyway shopping for your own kids' clothes, and find a good deal. Like those cozy Carter's blankets for $13 (century, babies r us, sears...). Or Absorba hooded baby towel sets.
