I am thinking of putting my 4 1/2 year old on the top bunk of a bunk-bed. Does anyone else have their child on a bunk bed? Any advise?

I heard not to put under 6s in the top bunk.
I have an 8.5 in the top bunk, and a 4.5 in the bottom one. (They both love it)
Bunk beds are really great for saving space and each child still has his "private space" all day, unlike a pull-out bed.

My kids had bunk beds when they were little and loved it !
please be careful some of them can be dangerous .

my parents put a "gate" sort of thing on the top bunk so you cant roll off and fall...you may be able to ask a furniture store or look online for one of these

I already have the bunk bed, its separated right now and my son already sleeps on the top part which has a bar that goes all the way across the length of the bed. I am just afraid because he is used to going over the bar and onto the floor and with the bunk bed stacked he will have to go down onto the ladder.

I have bunk beds & they are great. But as someone else said 4.5 is too young. Wait a while.

We put my son on the top bed when he turned 5 years old. he used to use the ladder to come down, but now htat we use teh trundle for our third child, he climbs down the sides if he comes out at night. it says you should be six years old to use the top bed, so we were nervous. it turns out alot of people use it earlier.
