I am looking for a delicious recipe for baked ziti. My family doesnt like cottage cheese or farmer cheese only parmesean or shredded etc (such types) I need a good tasting sauce as I find the pizza sauce isnt very tasty. Anyone have a homeade sauce recipe?
Thanks

Marinara sauce is the best sauce for baked ziti. It is easy and comes in a few varieties. Have you tried it?

I also find that they are great but you have to use a non-Jewish company unfortunately like Frescorti because the Jewish companies have no flavor.

You can just boil pasta, mix with sauce and any melty cheese like mozzerala and bake.

I have tried marinara sauce, but it is not tasty enough, I guess like abulous said the jewish company ones have no flavour.

I have a fantastic very cheesy, rich recipe that I don't make for a regular supper but for special events. It does have cottage cheese in it but we are not cottage cheese types and with all the other ingredients it gets blended in. Let me know if you want the recipe.

I use ricotta cheese for baked ziti. The texture is much finer than either cottage cheese or farmer cheese. Maybe you could try that?

This is so good, even the Heimish brand marinara sauce should be good in this.
But if you'd like, you can taste the marinara sauce before you put it in, and add crushed garlic, salt and red wine vinegar to taste, to make the flavor more robust.

Creamy Baked Ziti

1 (16 oz.) pkg. ziti or penne pasta
2 (26 oz.) jars marinara sace
2 (16 oz.) containers ricotta cheee
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. shredded cheese, divided

Cook ziti about 2 to 3 minutes less than package directions for al dente pasta. Drain, rinse with cold water to stop the cooking and set aside.
In a large bowl, mix the marinara sauce, the ricotta cheese, and 1/2 a package (1 cup) shredded cheese.
Pour about 2 cups of the sauce mixture in prepared pan, spreading over bottom.
Combine ziti and remaining marinara/ricotta/cheese sauce mixture and stir until well combined, making sure there are no dry patches of pasta. Pour into pan and spread to edges.
Sprinkle remaining 1 and a 1/2 packages of cheese over ziti to cover.
Bake, covered, at 375° for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Uncover and continue baking until cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

Of course it's good, it's full of fat and white carbs.

Uh, chocolate moose, what is your point? Of course its full of fat--what baked ziti recipe isnt? and instead of reg ziti one could use whole wheat pasta.

I make mine easy and tasty

mix the tomatoe sauce with a bit water and spices-garlic powder, sugar, drop salt, onion powder, black pepper, and oregeno....

put a drop of that on the bottom, cooked noodles, rest of tomato sauce, and the shredded cheese on top and cover. Bake an hour on 350 then mix well when done.

It's like a creamy no curd cottage cheese. No lumps, just thick.

Try the Gefen Pasta Sauce that says on top of Pasta Sauce in small classic marinara. I found it to be the best one from the Kosher companies. Its extremely tasty and we like it better then Frescorti.
