Why on earth can't you post as amother in the Purim section? Arg.

So here's the challenge. I'm dressing up my two young dss as dogs. I NEVER make themes for shalach manos, and I skip all of the theme-related threads on here. My typical shalach manos is a Purim bag (a pack of twenty for a couple of dollars) filled with a fruit, a candy bar, and maybe a few small candies. Total of less than a dollar per shalach manos, probably more like fifty cents. We don't give out many - just ten or twenty of them, and they're all small.

Other caveats include the fact that I'm horrible at baking and burn everything, especially with my malfunctioning oven. I'd love to send out "real food," but it gets expensive and time-consuming.

Any ideas? I was thinking of making something and calling it "dog food," and maybe including a licorice or something and calling it a leash. I will only do this theme if I can do it relatively cheap and easy, though. Any ideas?

I was soooo close to doing a dog them this year but changed my mind last week!

What I was going to do was bake bone cookies (they have bone shaped cookie cutters on ebay for like $2), buy the bone shaped candies (like this: http://www.simchasweets.com/bonz.html) and/or scottie dog candies (like this: http://www.simchasweets.com/wichscdo.html) and put them in cute bone cello bags (like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA.....AX:IT).
I was also going to bake doggie bone challahs - you roll out the dough like you would if you were making a roll, then knot both ends (like rolls) and it looks like a doggie bone. (I make this for my dog-obsessed 4yo old on Shabbos whenever I bake challah, lol).
I was also going to bake cupcakes or buy something prepared that is soft and insert doggie picks (like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/12-Puppy-D.....76596)
Finally, the $1 store near me sells small clifford apple juice boxes (packs of 3 I think) that I was going to add.

Just some of my ideas, hopefully you will find something useful!

one year I dressed up my little ones in dalmation costumes. I put the purim stuff - wafer roll for dog bones ( I put a label on the box that said dog bones) - I dont remember what else - it was a long time ago... & I put it into a black & white bag with matching tissue paper in it
