My dd had a strep 6 times in the past 3 months. This child is forever on antibiotics. I want to know if anybody knows of a good immune boost/vitamins/supplements that I can try which might prevent her from getting sick so often.

She also suffers from terrible colds, runny nose..the works.

have you considered that she has enlarged adenoids/ tonsils which harbor strep and cause bad colds? have you seen an ENT? the symptoms you describe are very common in children with enlarged adenoids.

I had strep 18x in two years. I missed most of fifth grade. Finally, my parents took me to an ENT and I had my tonsils and adenoids out. I think I've had strep once since the surgery and don't get sick too often anymore with respiratory things, ka"h, other than sinus infections.

Make sure your DD is taking the full course of antibiotics. I remember I used to hate taking the pills and would hide the last few doses and they think that's partly why I was always so sick (my mom found them). The bug just became resistant to treatment. My own fault obviously, but I was ten and didn't grasp it.

Pediatrician isnt concerned about her tonsils. She's too little to take it herself. I'm on top of it and give it as the doctors instructions.

the pediatrician can see her tonsils if he is competent, but he doesnt have the tools to check her adenoids. listen, you should definitely see an ENT. you really should.

I had strep quite a few times in a short period as an adult and we finally figured out that the antibiotics were not strong enough. So it kept killing the infection but leaving a little bit to regenerate. So a specialist put me on a very strong type of antibiotics.

You dd should have a big refuah shelama!

if OP would have only mentioned recurring strep, I would think a stronger antibiotic was needed. but she mentioned a lot of colds and runny noses too. sounds soooo adenoid-ish to me.

My son also had a time when he got strep often. We went to the ENT and almost scheduled to remove his tonsils. But, the next week he had strep againa and we saw a different pediatrician in the practice we use and he suggested having the whole family tested for strep. Well, two kids tested positive (one of them under 2) and they both had no symptoms. We treated them with antibiotics and I dont think the original son has had strep since.
Good Luck!

Here's something you can try. Next time she has strep, WAIT 4 days (or more, if possible) before you start the antibiotic. This allows the body to develop it's own immune response to strep, which will make it harder for the body to catch strep the next time around. Antibiotics are a crutch, they take over for our body and make our body weaker. Give the body a chance to fight it, and it will build up her defenses against strep.
B'Hatzlacha!

my daughter had that a few years ago but it went on for about a year. it came to a point were she tested positive on a blood test while she was on a penacilin shot( supposed to work for a month and this was about two weeks in).

my dr is bh a big beleiver in natural so she told me to do my research and let her know what I come up with. I ended up talking to someone from shaklee who gave me a bunch of vitamins for her( my dr oked it). after a few months she stopped getting sick.

bh its now a few years later and she barely gets strep anymore( even when its in the house)! feel free to pm me and I can give you more info.
