They have a free classifieds circular in Monsey called The community connections. They have listings every yr. of ideas what you can do. How about the palisades mall-there's bowling, imax, ice skating, dave and busters and of course shopping!

Why don't you go into Manhattan and hit up Central Park, the Museum of Natural History, MOMA, The Met, The Jewish Museum....(too many things to list). It's only about 45 minutes from Monsey and all the entertainment you need!

Steamtown national historic site in Scranton pa is 2 hours from monsey. Its free for this week (nothing to do with pesach, we just got lucky) thru sunday chol hamo'ed.
Its a 'museum' of steam trains. My kids love it-and so do I. You can climb on trains as well as explore the museum.
If you have children, tell a ranger they want to earn a badge. They will get a booklet with questions which they can answer from the exhibits. When done, they give the booklet to a ranger and get a badge. (this can be done at any national park).

In the same area are the scranton iron furnaces, a coal mine tour, and anthracite museum
