Do you have kids? Navy Pier is a great attraction, nice rides, and a really great childrens museum that has activities for all ages.

Millenium Park is also a great place to visit (and free, which is always good).

Lincoln Park Zoo is a free zoo (parking is about $20 though) and there are other places to visit in the same location, such as a Butterfly/Nature park.
Botanical Garden is the same as far as payment (free to visit but pay to park), and a really amazing thing to see. It's huge, and very well done.

Sorry I don't know of any places to rent outside of hotels, hopefully someone else will have information. Enjoy your visit! Smile

There are a number of threads here with information about restaurants, etc. in Chicago. I'd suggest you do a search on Chicago and read the results, then let us know if you have questions.

I heard that Park Plaza has apartments that they rent out for short periods of time.

Don't do Park Plaza. You can try calling the Chicago center for torah and Chesed and seeing if they have a last minute apartment...

We also eat only cholov yisroel and pas yisroel. Here's a list of eateries that I would eat at:

Tel Aviv Kosher Pizza 6349 N. California 773-764-3776

Great Chicago (Fleishig fast food) 3149 W. Devon Ave 773-465-9030

The Sandwich Club (Fleishig sandwiches, wraps, a little nicer than regular fast food) 4507 W. Oakton (Skokie) 847-677-6020

Tein Li Chow (Kosher Chinese takeout in Jewel--the large non jewish supermarket that has a kosher deli counter, fish counter, and sells kosher food and all the cholov yisroel products) 2485 Howard St 847-358-4642

Slice of Life/Hy Life Bistro (fancier, sit-down place that is half fleishig, half milchig, on different sides of the restaurant; it has a "cholov yisroel menu", but not always do they have everything on that menu Rolling Eyes ) 4120 W Dempster (Skokie) 847-674-2021

Bagel Country (my non jewish teacher even likes this place!) 9306 N Skokie Blvd (Skokie) 847-673-3030

There's also Taboun Grill, EJ's pizza, and Chalavi (sorry I don't have their addresses--I was looking in an older phone book and all are more recent--but delicious).

You can check the website of Chicago Rabbinical Council (the mian hechsher here). Here is their link to the "Visitor's Guide to Chicago": http://www.crcweb.org/guide_chicago.php.

PM me for more info. I've lived in Chicago all my life Smile

Sandwhich,
Do you currently have any memberships to any museums in NY? Some of the museums here have reciprical programs. I also forgot to ask if you are cohanim...

Some ideas are here: http://explorechicago.org/city......html

1) As Melbee mentioned, Millenium Park http://explorechicago.org/city......html

Lincoln Park Zoo http://www.lpzoo.org/

And the Botanic Gardens http://www.chicagobotanic.org/

If you have a car there is also...

2) Apple/Peach picking at apple holler http://www.appleholler.com/app.....n.htm

3) Pump it up in Glenview -http://www.pumpitupparty.com/

4) Grosse point lighthouse -
http://www.grossepointlighthou......html

5) xtreme trampolines - (get a group together for discounts!) http://www.xtremetrampolines.com/

6) Bowling at Brunswick lanes http://www.bowlbrunswick.com/about-us/167/1

7) and then there's the museums: Shedd Aquarium/Oceanarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Children's museum's (one at navy pier and one in Glenview), Museum of Science and Industry, Peggy Nortebart Nautre Museum, Art Institute, etc etc...

If you are going to the Lincoln Park Zoo it's worth it to take a trip right across the street to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. I'm not sure if it's free, but if you don't want to pay there is a large duck pond / nature walk right outside that is free to walk. I'm from Chicago, feel free to PM me.
