I know this is old, but I made these today and they came out hard. how do I get them to be soft and cakey.
also, some started to open, didn't quite understand the instuctions of how to get them to stay closed

I make these [url= http://www.laurenslatest.com/m.....namon buns[/url] and they're delicious.
don't know why whichever recipe you used came out hard (did you over bake them?)
did you roll it tight enough for them not to open? also they need to be baked in a pan w/ the buns side by side (not on a tray-otherwise they'll lose their shape) you can also bake them in muffin tins but I find that they come out drier that way.
