I made peace with most British versions of American English like herbel tea and maths and pavement. But I cant stand chuna (tuna) and chusday (tuesday).

Good vs Well.
My son does not speak good. He speaks well.

I must be a real ninny.
Most of the things listed irk the you-know-what out of me.
Totally agree on the "intensive purposes," "stayed by.." "could of" UGGHH...
I also never use the word "panties" - eew!
Literacy, people!!

(Dave Barry, in his Book of Really Bad Songs, got votes for "Ain't No Woman Like the One-Eyed Gott.)
How about, "He wondered if he will catch the bus on time"?

And its sister mistake: saying "could" when someone really means "can." I don't think people understand the conditional at all. (Maybe because frum kids are less likely to take French in school?)

I've only heard the 'could you borrow me $5' and the 'or this or that' from chassidish people. maybe thats how its said in yiddish, but it irks me too.

I hate when people ask "can I borrow a tissue?"
no hon, keep the tissue.

I have heard the "borrow" instead of "lend" on Judge Judy and you can be sure she corrected the person who kept saying it!

"Where are you holding?" instead of "how much progress have you made so far?" or even "what's your current situation?"
I'm not holding anything. And even if I were, it would most certainly not be a place.

"Besides for" and "aside for" drive me nuts. So does "stay by me."

Inexplicably, I've heard English people, who drop nearly all end r's say that or similar. Could be a regional thing.

One thing that really drives me crazy (I don't know if anyone said this yet) is when adults talk to babies in baby talk. It's bad enough when the kid calls his bottle "botty" and you ask him if he wants his botty; but when he doesn't even talk yet, and you offer him a "nana", how will he know to try and say banana?

I also don't like baby talk. Just the other day my mil was talking to my kids and saying "cribby" and "botty". I think it took some time for them to figure out what she was talking about!!
