Can anyone think of an English name for Tzvi? Also how would you spell it, Zvi, or Tzvi?
Thanks for your help!

Hershel is the name I think of for an English (or close enough!) equivalent. I spell my son's middle name Tzvi.

I know a Tzvi who is Hart in English. I also know a Tzvi who is Harry in English. Hart actually means the same thing as Tzvi, but is rather unusual; Harry is a more common name, so you may be more comfortable with that.

I am looking for both, how to Americanize it and how to spell it. Not sure if we will put it on the birth certificate spelled out in English or an American equivalent.

I know of people whose Hebrew name is Tzvi and their English names are Harry, Henry and Ian respectively. This is one of those names that does not translate literally, so if you like a particular name in English and it kinda-sorta goes, go with it! I went to a baby-name site and saw Tyler and Tucker which are two very popular contemporary names, and Taggart, which isn`t popular at all but could be cool under the right circumstances.

Our son's middle name is Tzvi and we went with Zachary. For some reason they just sounded similar enough to us and we loved the name. Turns out he has an awful lot of Zs in his name.

The European spelling seems to be Zvi. The North American/English spelling seems to be Tzvi. Either is correct. (I've also seen "Tsvi"...)

No joke the sons of AT's daycare provider last year called him Abraham Deer as a "nickname."
