Sorry I didn't find time this week to tape it. abmom had a great idea to use the tune of "this old man" in the meantime.

I wonder if anyone else is singing the song about the sheep, posted earlier on this thread. Last year, I made up my own tune, but since then, have been told that it's supposed to go to "Baa Baa Black Sheep". But the words don't quite fit!

I was thinking of adding a bit, so it would go:

"Baa, baa, baa, baa" said the sheep
"Baa, baa baa, I want to eat."
Avraham said, "please do;
But only food that belongs to you."

We can do a mitzvah, too
Like Avraham Avinu
Don't take someone else's toy;
Don't take someone else's snack
If you take them by mistake
Please be sure to give it back.

What do you all think?

I used this song. I used a self made tune similar to "I ran around the corner". But I read the song the 1st time I didn't notice these 2 lines:
We can do a mitzvah, too
Like Avraham Avinu
Maybe I'll change it around for next year.
If anyone has a better tune I'll appreciate if you can post it. I don't really like the tune I used.

Come Rosh Chodesh, I'll be focused on teaching Chanukah songs for the kids to perform. But here's a clapping game that I saw for Toldos:

The kids echo the morah on the first 2 lines:

Yaakov and Eisav
Twins but opposite, opposite
Let's play opposites!
Dark (kids answer "light")
Hairy/smooth

etc.

For older groups, you can invite them to think of a pair of opposites.

imasinger- love your stuff, as usual

abmom- Here is a song for Toldos:( it's old)
ttto: yankee doodle
Yaakov and Esav were twin brothers,
Different as day and night
Yaakov loved to learn Torah,
But Esav loved to fight--POW!!

Now, in return, does anyone have a GOOD project for Toldos?

I only did as far as the soup, I didn't do Hakol kol Yaakovv and the bracha, cuz I'm afraid to teach the trick part to such little kids (2 1/2-3). Plus I only do bits of parsha. So I need a really clever project showing the differences of Yaakov and Esav.
We're doing opposites, like everyone else, Here is an opposites poem I wrote:
Opposites are not the same
Let's all play an opposites game
Clap up high, clap down low'
Clap real fast, now clap slow.
Clap in front, now clap in back (cute to watch the kids try) (not that it's so easy for me!!)
Give your hands a real big smack.
Clap to the left, clap to the right
Shake your hands loose, now squeeze them tight.
Clap real loud, we're so proud,
Quietly next, we're the best! ( Thumbs up)

Hi everyone! Chanukah is over... Back to parsha! Anyone has any songs about Serach playing the harp?

There's always the chorus from 613 Torah Avenue, to the tune of "Oh Susanna" -- "Ani Yosef, ha'od avi chai; I am Yosef, is my father still alive."

I did a shtick with my keyboard, telling the story of the family trying to decide how to break the news to Yaakov, and then letting them listen to a choice of instruments sounds. I sang, "Yosef's alive" to the accompaniment of piccolo, piano, trumpet, electric guitar, bassoon, and then harp. Everyone agreed that the harp was the gentlest way to give Yaakov the news. Then, I let them all have turns playing my keyboard while it sounded like a harp.

I couldn't come up with a good, simple song about Serach, though, to a melody that was appropriate and not already over-used. Any ideas for a tune?

Any ideas for vayechi? I am going to play hamalach hagoel to them but think it's a bit complicated for my 2 yr olds to sing, so any ideas for a simple song to sing with them? Also what craft are you doing?

TTTO Where is Thumbkin?
Where is Vashti?
Where is Vashti?
Bring her right away!
Bring her right away!

Tell him I’m not coming!
Tell him I’m not coming!
Go away!
Go away!

TTTO Chag Purim - (I don't think this is the real tune, but this is what I used and it worked nicely)
Nosh, nosh, nosh
A hamentasch,
Let’s nosh a hamentaschen now!
Nosh, nosh, nosh,
A hamentasch,
Let’s nosh a hamentasch now!
Roll and roll the dough with me,
Make it flat and you will see
That Haman’s hat looked just like that,
Let’s make a hamentasch now!
Pinch and squeeze the dough with me,
Pinch and squeeze and you will see,
That Haman’s hat looked just like that,
Let’s make a hamnetasch now!

(Don't know the name of the original, but maybe someone will recognize the lyrics and chime in.)
King Achashveirosh made a big feast,
He asked his wife Vashti to come.
She had many pimples, 100 at least,
She said “I won’t come to join in your fun!”
The king got so angry, he said to his men,
“Take her, I don’t want her – she’s mean!”
Of all of the ladies that Shushan town had,
He chose Esther to be his new queen.

TTTO Eitz Chaim
I am Haman, second to the king.
He even gave me his special ring!
Everyone bows down when I walk by,
Except for the Jew named Mordechai.
Oh no! What shall I do?
I think I will harm Mordechai the Jew.
Oh wow! Hashem made a neis
And put Haman in his place!

I was planning and coming here to ask the same question! All the ones I could think of were to wordy for my 2 yr olds. thanks for reminding me about the nosh nosh a hamantash one, I know it to a diff tune just cant think of what the original song is. Any other less wordy ones that anyone knows would be greatly appreciated.

For crafts we mad a clown hat on Rosh chodesh which they loved. I am planning on making a hanging clown, hamantashen and a grager this coming week. Their are lots of cute grager ideas on chinuch.org I just have to choose one and get any supplies I don't have and need on Sunday.

Oh and also a cute idea is to make "purim costumes" out of large paper bags (I have been saving them from the grocery store) You just cut a line down the middle, make a big hole at the top for their head (starting at the end of the line you cut) and then cut a hole in each side for the arms so it should now look like a jacket. They can stick on a variety of decorations e.g pom poms, feathers, stickers, cut up shiny paper etc. you can even make a hat or crown of some sort to go with it. I will probably actually do this instead of the clown, way more simple and fun for them and more their own work! Almost forgot I saved bags for this craft!

No, but you could make it fit to "Shabbos is coming".

I do the Uncle Moishy one:

I clean, you clean, we all clean together
Cleaning for Pesach, that's what we must do
Toys and books and closets and drawers,
Whatever you've got, you've got to clean them all.

I also put on some fast classical music ("Flight of the Bumblebee" is one good option), and we run all around the classroom with pieces of cloth (you can buy remnants cheap at the fabric store), and pretend to clean it all up. They love this game!

It's also time to start with Mah Nishtana, and songs about the seder. I have a bunch, but am happy to learn more, if anyone has.
