I am new here and I see that many of you ask if you can freeze kugels, salads pasta etc.
the answer to all this is:
you can freeze anything without mayo.
pastas, kugels, meatballs and almost anything.

potatoes are risky.

A big trick however is in method of defrosting.
The ideal way is to put frozen food directly into hot oven to defrost. This helps eliminate the sogginess that otherwise might occur.

yes, you can freeze anything--but it will not necessarily be palatable or usable upon thawing. certain dishes with fruits, vegs or similar ingredients with high water content may separate. Sliced hard cheeses I have found crumble upon thawing. cottage cheese also separates. potatoes turn mealy or mushy. meringues separate. etc.

queen you are right you need to pop it into the oven right away.
also, if you freeze the potatoe kugel then just drop it frozen double wrapped in foil onto the top of the cholent thats all .

For potato kugel I've found it helps if you don't cook it all the way before freezing it.
