So many cookbooks seem to be making their debut now -

-Rinat Cookbook (in Teaneck)
-Halb Cookbook
-TAG Cookbook
-Magen David Cookbook

lots to choose from....

Personally, I'll either get Fresh and Easy or Bais Yaakov, maybe both.

I am trying to decide if I should get the BY one or not. I'm a parent of alumni (and of a teacher) of the school and they're offering it to us for $29.56 (20% off) with free shipping -- I'll probably get it to support the school (which is excellent) -- though I'm hesitating as I really am not interested in new cookbooks -- I stick to the tried and true recipes (and imamother ones) and usually wind up giving away any new ones I get.

B.Y. Cookbook! It looks amazing and is more than just a cookbook...The additional features in it sound really interesting.

I would go with the BY cookbook. I saw a copy of it and it was done beutifully. It offers so much more than just recipes - a history of the BY movement, Halachos in the kitchen, how to check fruits and veggies. I can't wait to get my copy!

Where did you see a copy if it's not in stores yet?

It is in the stores here and we're OOT. It was done by our local Bais Yaakov HS, and they offered a discount to former parents, alumni, etc., so I ordered it through them. I should have it in a day or 2. I'll report back when I get it. For the record, I am a big cookbook sceptic and don't think there is too much new and interesting in this department. I hope they prove me wrong. I mainly bought it as support for the school.

Got at BY cookbook. Love they way it looks, haven't had a chance to make anything from it, but looks like it has possibilities. I do like the layout and the extra stuff, it makes it more interesting.

I love cookbooks. Like many of you have said, I love to spend time looking through them, and checking off the recipes that sound yummy, and not a major patchke to prepare. (Don't like frying or sauteeing.)
I have a tremendous kosher cookbook collection (shelves and shelves in double rows). I checked Fresh and Easy, and the Bais Yaakov Cookbook at Eichler's in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Both were beautiful, but I chose BY because I thought that the recipes on the whole looked a bit easier, required less ingredients, (those that I was more likely have on hand). I also thought that the added features were presented beautifully, and appreciated them even though I'm not a BY "girl" myself. There's a chance that I'll be back for Fresh and Easy at some point, but BY was my first choice for now.

What's the best price now on the BY one?
I looked at the sample pages and while I liked some of it, I wasn't thrilled to see soup mix on the yummy looking zucchini soup (I don't use soup mix so I don't know if this cookbook is worthwhile for me).

OOTBubby- can you confirm the general health aspect of the recipes?

On the other hand, it's an easy gift to tell my MIL who wants to know what I want.

There is a 20% off discount available if you order it directly from the school.

I haven't received mine yet so I can't answer on the health aspect.
