Why not go to the Caribbean? It's much closer, and can often be a direct flight, giving you much more time to enjoy. For Hawaii over 8 days you'll have potential Shabbos issues; definitely ask your Rav first.

I'm sorry for not being specific. If we go to hawaii we can stay over shabbos in LA. Sunday - Thursday Hawaii and Friday- Monday LA.
Where can I get more info for the Caribbeans vs. Hawaii?

We have been all over the Caribbean, including two cruises, as well as Puerto Rico and Hawaii, & I definitely recommend Hawaii, hands down. Assuming that you would be able to handle the very long flight there and back- it's 11 hours of flying from JFK each way.

I've been to both places for a week each. You can't compare San Juan to Hawaii. San Juan is a cool vacation, but Hawaii is unforgettable.
Every Place you go in Hawaii is beautiful. I highly recommend Maui and Kuai if you like to be active...the road to Hana in Maui is amazing...if I remember the name of the place we stayed I'll comment again. It was reasonably priced comfortable and very clean. Although there were many hotels on that strip with similar pricing and all looked lovely. Enjoy your vacation wherever you go

We did Hawaii- did Maui and Honolulu 8 days. Was a great trip. Flew from Maryland to la for fri-sun then sun-tues did Maui and wedn-mon did Honolulu. Tons to do that's not only beach related. Also there is Chabad in Honolulu thay you can go to for shabbos. They're in a hotel and u stay right in the hotel.
