It looks like there may be a chance that we will be leaving Israel Our oldest will be 9 going into the 4th grade next year. Has anyone done this that can tell me how it worked out. How did he adjust socially, academically etc. My son reads English I would say probably on a high 2nd grade level and will pick that up quickly I'm more concerned about his adjustment in Kodesh as he is at the top of his class can lein the entire chumash by heart as well as megillas Esther etc. Is this crazy??

He'll be able to put his skills to good use wherever he is. Don't worry!

There are several yordim kids in dd's school. They often are the "right" grade for kodesh (or one year above) but also often several years "under". There is a little boy who is 4th grade for kodesh and 1st grade for chol.

My kids school also has some Israeli kids (mainly on assignment for their parents work). I won't be worried too much about LK but he may need "topping up" at home or extracurricular activities so he's not too "bored". Have you checked the school--esp if there are other children who may need English as Second Language assitance? Having other Israeli children in the same school/class may help.
