I made the Pull Apart Cake from Kosher Pallette 2.

It was a big hit Smile

But that is beside the point....

I was wondering, since the recipe uses a yeast dough, (challah dough basically) then shouldn't one make a hamotzi on it? Or does it have the same halacha as donuts and other such mezonos - so it is dependent on how much you eat?

You basically take yeast dough (challah dough) and make little balls and roll them in margarine and in cinnamon sugar and put them in a bundt pan and bake it like that. Then when it is ready everyone can pull the cake apart (like pull apart challah), rather then slicing it.

If it's hamotzie, it's hamotzei. Make it with apple juice to be sure.

If a yeast dough is filled with fruit, sugar and cinnamon, chocolate or the like, it becomes mezonot, even during a meal made with hamotzi.

It's pas habaah b kisnin so it is mezonos. The yeast has no bearing on hamotzi status. If one were to be kovea seuda on you might have to wash-- ask your posek.

Always substitute apple juice or, my mother likes the light grape juice better because it has less of a strong mezonas taste. For milchig, use milk and then send me some!

You know what bothers me - some people make Hamotzi on pizza - but those same people also make Mezonos on "Mezonos bread". I have always learned that if it's a meal it is Hamotzie - if you eat too much cake it is also HaMotzie don't know the amount (schir)

There are def. different opinions, but for cake it doesn't hurt to use the apple juice.

Does ANYONE eat enough cake to wash on it?

Really? I make hamotzi on pizza and don't make a mezonos on mezonos bread.

Please don't generalize.
