Hi,
It's my first year making seder night. I was wondering if someone could help me by answering a couple of Qs.
My ideal menu would be:
Chicken soup with Knaidlech
Chicken in cola sauce
Roast potatoes
Cabbage and onion
Stewed apple
Brownies
My Qs were:
1) Can I serve chicken in cola sauce or is that classified as roasted? Is roasting just if it cooks in its own juice? How is it defined?
2) Can I serve roast potatoes? Does roasting issue apply only to meat?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Jamie Oliver made amazing roasted potatoes on top of the stove in his show 30 Minute Meals: He boiled the new potatoes then squashed them with a potato masher so they were broken but not mashed. Then he fried them in a hot frying pan in some olive oil, seasoned with garlic, S&P & an herb (I don't recall which one) They looked crispy and delicious, and the oven didn't need to be used at all!
ETA that the cola chicken is definitely braised, not roasted. The presence of the liquid makes it a classic braise.

As far as I know you should be fine with this menu, but I would tell you to AYLOR (and possibly your MIL or FIL) as alot of what we do & do not serve at the Seder is based on minhag, and there are differences.
