I'm trying to pick a child health plus HMO for my son, I'm considering Americhoice or HIP (I live in NYC). Any suggestions? Recommendations? Good or bad experiences with them? Any information would very much be appreciated!

TIA

Americhoice is now United Healthcare.

AFAIK, most Manhattan doctors take HIP over United Healthcare. And most Brooklyn doctors take United Healthcare over HIP.

The only way to make a proper decision, is to call your doctors and find out what they accept. It doesn't pay to choose a plan and then find out your doctor of choice doesn't accept it.

the only doctor I B"H now need for my son is his pediatrician who takes HIP, United Healthcare and Empire (however, blood tests are not covered in his office thru Empire, he has to send you to a lab. therefore I nixed Empire)

Thanks for that info and I'm waiting for more Smile

Your next step should be contacting your child's dentist. Those are your most important. Pediatrician and dentist.
The dentist was the deciding factor for us, as our ped took most HMOs, while our pediatric dentist only took one.
