for those of you have used it for a slide show of your child growing up for a bar/bat mitzva how many seconds in the min. you need to have each picture up?

I think when you import still photos into Windows Movie Maker, it keeps them up for 5 seconds by default.
If you want to synch the changing of the pictures to music, or if you think 5 seconds is too long (that's 12 pictures per minute -- try it and watch the preview so you can get a feel for it. If you feel like you're waiting forever for the next slide, try shortening to 4 seconds, etc.), you can adjust the length of each picture in the "timeline" view.
