My baby girl, due in Av I"h, will be born after a long long struggle with infertility. We would like to add a name that has some meaning to our struggle and/or the month that she is due. My DH does not want any Israeli or Sefardi names (though I love many of them) so only Typical Hebrew or Yiddish names will do.

Some that come to mind are

Nechama
Bracha
Tova
Rena
Fraida
Shira
Shalva
Sima

Some of these names DH has nixed right away. Any more suggestions?

Ruchama
Tehila
Odelia, Hodaya, Yehudit
Sarah, Rachel, Chana - women in Tanach who didn't get pregnant easily

What about a name like Zahava or Penina, to show how precious she is to you?

I had a girl after a loss in my fith month and gave her the middle name nechama. I felt it was to personal to make it her first name but when I look at her that's what I think of

I just want to clarify; when I look at her I don't think of my loss, as much as I think of her as being a nechama. I don't know if that's obvious, but I wouldn't want anyone to think that im thinking of such depressing things when I talk to dd!
Ps. Eliana is also a nice sentiment

just out of curiosity, whats a sfardi girls name? arent they all just jewish and pronounced differently? I married into a sfardi family and the names all seem the same to me.

also, I had some issues when I was expecting and gave my dd the middle name menucha because it was such menuchas hanefesh to finally hold my beautiful baby

We also used the name Nechama because she was a comfort after a loss. My grandfather z'l was niftar 10 days before the twins were born, so we named the first Nechama since she brought us comfort.

I also love the name Eliana. Hodaya is another good choice.

Ladino names are often Spanish, like Yiddish names are often German or Slavic.
