I went to a wedding recently in Monsey's Atrium. The entree was this delicious pastrami mixture in dough. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Anyone have an actual recipe to follow? I want to make it for Shabbos. I can fudge my way through, but if there's a formal recipe, I'd love to have it!

I think I know what you're referring to. But can you tell me what it looked like? Was it pastrami wrapped in dough? Turnovers?

It is most likely the ones I've seen around here in some delis. Dough (flaky or similar), pastrami, turkey breast etc... then it's coated with duck sauce and rolled up. Some of them put some stuffing in as well.

Life's Great- duck sauce to season the pastrami inside the dough, or glazing the dough?
The one at the wedding looked like sauteed onions and chopped pastrami. I'm not sure what the seasoning should be?

Ah, it was chopped? Hm, then I'm not sure.

I don't know but how about pastry dough, mashed potatoes on top and then chopped pastrami on top of that? Roll it up and bake.

Does pastrami need seasonings? its already seasoned.

I decided to experiment. I sauteed a large onion, and then added chopped pastrami. Once it cooled somewhat, I added mustard and honey and mixed. It looked and smelled yummy! Then, I put spoonfuls into pastry dough squares (more cute and individual than slicing a log), and folded it diagonally. I baked it and now it's cooling. I think it's gonna be delicious!

My experimentation came out delicious! I loved it! Dh thought it was too sweet; honey's not his thing. He likes spice...well, there will be more leftovers for me! Yay! Very Happy

2 large onions
2 packages pastrami (or one 22 oz package)
3/4 cup mayonaise
1/4 cup mustard
Saute onions. Add pastrami (cut into pieces)
mix well. add mayo/mustard
put into pasrt dough squares and fold into triangles.
I freeze then raw and then bake at 350 approx half hour when I need them
good as appetizer or side dish
