Since my oldest was big enough to enjoy a kiddie pool I've basically purchased a new one every season. I'd like to buy one again now but I'm looking for a more permanent solution. I'd like to either find a pool that is inexpensive and will last the season and I'll just buy the same one every summer OR I would spend a bit more money for a pool that is durable, easy to set up, AND doesn't take up too much space to store. Basically, the problems I've had were as follows:
Hard plastic pool - very durable but hard to empty (I'd have to push down the side until enough water spilled out that I was able to lift and pour out the rest) and bulky to store
Inflatable pool - I did not have a pump, had to borrow or use a bike pump and it was punctured early on in the season so did not last.
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions based on your experience? If you can, post a link to an item you were happy with. TIA!

You can get one with a metal frame. No need to inflate and durable.

We have a hard plastic pool that comes with a plug which makes it no problem to drain - I would suggest one of those. Doesnt help with storage though. What about the ones with the soft sides? Nothing to blow up and easy to store! Like this:

I saw them at Toys R Us today. I had them as a kid - you just have to fill it up quite a bit to keep the sides up. (they come in various sizes)

How old are the kids? How about water tables with a sprinkler if you dont want a pool. My kids have loved using a water table.

(I would never pay that much! they go on sale!)
Also if you cant find a pool with a plug - maybe get a sandbox and use it as a pool - I find some of them have plugs.

Reviving this thread, can anyone suggest a good pool for a few kids that are a bit older.

I just got this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Intex-12.....12x30
it's great. it's fairly shallow (my tall 2.5 yr old can stand in it. the water comes up to her armpits). a friend and I swam with five kids in the pool. ok, we didn't swim, but we walked on our hands and chased the kids around. I give my kids rides on my back, etc. it's the right depth for the kids to learn to float/doggie paddle, etc. I did buy a salt water system to go with it and a stronger filter to fit the salt water system. it comes with a filter, and you could just purchase the chlorine stuff, afaik. I have the kids home with me for the summer, so we use the pool daily. we spent the whole afternoon in it one day last week. I expect it to last me a good few years before they complain it's too shallow. my oldest is nearly 8.

we just got an intex blow up pool for less than $30 and I invested in buying a pump too. I have 6 kids from ages 11-1.5 and they all had a good time playing in it. It will be too big for the baby- but we had some wading pools that he liked. I bought it on amazon- and would suggest to get the bigger version. this is what I bought
:http ://www.amazon.com/Intex-Recreation-Swim-Center-Family/dp/B000L8EEPS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1404064753&sr=8-5&keywords=swimming+pool
here is the other one that is a littl.e bigger:http://www.amazon.com/Intex-Center-Family-Colors-Styles/dp/B000058TJ3/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1404064753&sr=8-4&keywords=swimming+pool
and sams club sells this one for much cheaper...

Which salt water system did you get? Can you post a link? Thanks.
