so I live in brooklyn and am looking for stores (preferrably online but in person too) that carry tops that require nothing be worn underneath...this hot weather is killing me....I am very petite and like 3/4 length sleeves and fitted clothes in cotton, cotton blends, linen, linen blends etc.....I am not makpid about my collarbone or elbows being covered but I wont wear a scoop neck etc...just something close to the elbow and collarbone area is fine.....its also so hard to find tops that arent see-thru..a lot of cheap clothing out there!!! thanks!

I was in the mall yesterday and saw these:

They are great, and well priced. For the lighter colors you might want to put a cami or undershirt underneath (I usually wear one anyway) for coverage. They are really a nice material, not too clingy, and not too huge.
Also, J Jill has some nice ones but the neckline is slightly more open width wise ('ballet' neck): http://www.jjill.com/jjillonli.....;sk=W
Those are the ones on clearance but they have other colors at full price as well. I love these shirts and find them well worth the money -- I buy a few every summer, wear them and wear them, and unless I get a stain on them that can't come out (not unusual for me unfortunately they last great).
Good luck!

These look great! How wide is the neck on these?

See, now how can people not see the necessity of internet? The stores never carry this stuff, only online is there a good selection.

I am looking for 3/4 sleeve top thats fitted but not tight. I was in junees yesterday and the XL was tight on me! I could afford to lose 10 lbs but im not fat! I find it so hard to find a nice fitted long sleeve t shirt that looks good on! (I am a little heavier on top, smaller on the bottom so I have no problem with skirts)

I bought a very thin hoodie with bottons in the front from Old Navy, they had it in lots of colors. 3/4 sleeves and a nice fit. very casual though. Can't find it online.

I was in Chico's recently and they had a few solid long sleeve t-shirts in a soft stretchy cotton. The colors were nice as well- bright blue, turquoise, lime green etc.
btw- what do u do about the boat neck on the sides? My sheitel doesn't always cover it enough.....

sorry for hijacking this thread: these tops all look great, but the neck is too wide for me. I hardly ever find a neckline thats ok. I own 4 black tshirt tops. two I bought in boro park and two in geula. ive worn them for the past 4 years, so obviously the material is not as good as n the beginning and I desperatly need new ones. I literally wear them every day or like 6 times per week. shipping and import taxes here are crazy high and I cant find them ANYWHERE online in europe.
any suggestions???
in winter I could use a turtle neckl or rollneck, but in summer its far to hot for that. I prefer cotton to viscose/other artificial fabric. this, nontransparent, nicely fittet but not too tight would be EXCELLENT. im so close to visiting a tailor and ordering a custom made tshirt (which is cvery expencive and sounds really silly). so any tipps are HIGHLY appreciated, thanx !!

And here I thought someone found a great top and was bumping up the topic to share her findings.

Not only is this an old thread on a topic that has a new live thread currently, but it is also a very strange way to bring it back up. I can't quote a specific rabbi offhand but from my understanding of tznius halachos in general I would be willing to go out on a limb and bet that there are halachic Orthodox rabbis who would disagree with you that covering the collarbone is a firm requirement.
Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. A citation from the Shulchan Oruch would suffice for me, I'm not hard to convince.

I once heard Leah Press say it at a gathering highlighting r zehava braunstein on topic of tznius. She said clearly that knees elbows and collarbones are a halachic requirement anything else(bright colors...fitted...) can be argued. Gemorah definitely mentions that only the neck may be exposed...is collarbone a debatable issue?
I guess ask

Could be she meant a halachic requirement of her community, doesn't mean it's a blanket standard for everyone.
Personally I cover my collarbone because it's the standard I grew up with, but it seems like the kind of thing that might be open to interpretation. Especially since people's collarbones can seem to come out in different places so there are necklines that can be fine with one person's collarbone and not for the other person's, which doesn't seem quite right.
