For every kids' account you open at ingdirect.com between now and 7/3/12, $17.76 will be deposited into the account. You and/or the child needs to be a new account holder. If you are an account holder you can open accounts for the kids (as long as they are new account holders). I just did it for each of my kids. The $17.76 was credited right away and is available for withdrawal after 30 days.
[BTW, a plug for ING - I love it! I several sub-accounts which I name for specific purposes and I can transfer money between them and my checking account (through linking the external account). Even though the kids' accounts are under their SSN, you can name yourself as the primary account holder and it will be listed under your accounts.]
