we currently live in crown heights but we really cant survive here financially since we dont want to rent forever. we are looking for a nice chabad community with good housing prices, where we can get a decent sized house with a backyard and have good schools nearby. am I being unrealistic?

Albany is small, has a Chabad community, has low housing costs, houses with backyard, is only 2-3 hrs from NYC

I would love to move to a small community, but parnassa is an issue. NYC/Crown Heights is a much easier job market.

If you have a job that can be anywhere, then Chicago, Pittsburg, are great options.

How about the suburbs of Philadelphia? There's Chabad of the Main Line (pricier housing) and Chabad of Penn Wynne--lovely, quiet, decent real estate.

Hi fellow chabadnik
I hear in Postville Iowa they are aching for people-a 4 room house I am told goes for $70,000, plenty of land, fresh corn/trees and if you have young children, it could work. Life is centered around the cheder and shul;
I know it is not CH or Upper West Side or LA, but hey, a famly with small children w/ good chinuch, it is someting to think about; Question what will your husband do?, I guess you will need to really think out of the box. but if you are young and open, you have the wherewith all to consider this.
go to COLlive.com; about a week ago they had an article on living there or maybe it was Crown Hts.info
anyway check it out.
another suggestion, they are looking for people in West Bloomfield Hills, MI. a Rabbi Elimelech Silverberg shliach there. pretty area and may be affrordable

and of course if employment is solid, Ramat Bet Shemesh, Israel, getting exepnsive but an option to Jerusalem.

Morristown is not a cheap place to live at all... Unless you live on tikvah way and pay btw $1200-1500 for a 2 br/bath and they are not always n the best shape and some of them don't have central air, and dishwasher and I think its a high price to pay ,houses there goes in the high 500,000 and a lot higher!!!!

Op you need to give s more info as far as jobs searching and prices of houses you think is low

I will reiterate that it all boils down to a job. If you have a job that can transfer anywhere then there are plenty of options, if you are limited in that area, find that out now.
