I'm looking for your opinion for what age you think it's safe to allow kids to play outside unsupervised.
I'm asking because a few of my neighbors were discussing this today and disagreed.
I'm asking about the tri-state area in the USA and am not referring to playing in an enclosed backyard, but rather out and about, up and down the block, ect.
anon, cuz like I said, we were discussing this today and I want to remain anon......

Depends on the kid, depends on the neighborhood/block.
As a general rule (and I think it's subjective) I would say around bar/bas mitzva.
I know others will think that's nuts, but I wouldn't let an eleven or ten year old hang out outside alone. I just don't think it's safe.
There are neighborhoods that are known to be safer. Perhaps in those I'd drop the age to 9/10, but never younger.
