I know we discuss this topic every year, but, please, I need a quickie brush up course now...I don't have enough time to do my own research, due to other issues going on in my life. Thanks for your suggestions!

Nothing too heavy.
I just read not to eat garlic foods tomorrow.

I also read it's a mitzvah to eat fish at the first seudah tomorrow.

And I guess water is important. But not a crazy lot either.

Read about a study earlier this year saying not to go too heavy on proteins at the pre-fast meal. Contrary to what many believe, that seemed to make people feel worse during the fast than meals with more carbs or fats. I guess a balance is in order but with that in mind I won't be as heavy on the proteins as I usually try to.

Carbs, like posters said, but they should be complex carbs with a lower glycemic index so that your blood sugar doesn't spike and then fall. They should be combined with a small amount of protein and fat to keep you feeling fuller for longer. Go easy on the salt and spices. Nothing too sweet after the meal because it could be thirst inducing.

Ive read the same about peanut butter, so it must be something with the oils in these butters.

interesting as there are those who say no nuts all day, because of the davening ostensibly.

It is the fats in the nuts that abates hunger.

I thank you all for your responses on such short notice erev yom kippur. I used many of them, and they really seemed to help. I had a fairly decent fast, which is quite unusual for me, and I actually didn't get a headache until much later in the day; I usually get one first thing in the morning.
Thanks again, and a gut yuhr to everyone! G'mar tov!

I had a really easy fast, b"H, and I ate white-flour bagels with egg salad, a lot of salty potato chips, and water before the fast. I gave my family the standard challah, chicken soup, etc., but didn't eat it myself. I'm usually a bad faster and was so thankful to have an easy time of it this Yom Kippur, b"H.
