I'm due in a few weeks and I'm having a boy. I just wanted to know what will I need to take care of the bris area after the bris. I know bacitracin and cloth diapers but what type of bandage. I remember that by my other son I needed some big soft bandage but it was so many years ago I don't remember which one. Could somebody please show me a link to the size bandage I'm going to need?
Thanks

The proper place to ask this question is to the mohel. I remember using 4x4 gauze pads, but really, he's the person you should be discussing it with when you call to make the arrangements.

You're right but I want to buy it ahead of time. Also, we're using the same mohel as last time. I remember that this is what he told us to do to put bacitracin, then cover with bandage and to use a cloth diaper. I just can't remember how the bandage looked or is called a gauze pad?
Is it something like this? http://www.amazon.com/Red-Cros.....+pads
Thanks

Yes the 4x4 gauze pads I used. I put bacitracin and new gauze by every diaper change. My mohel also told me to put olive oil so shud heal faster

I have 2 boys we had the same mohel both times. He just told us gauze pads bacitracin and a&d ointment. Make a circle of a&d on gauze and bacitracin in the middle. No cloth diapers necessary-- maybe just for the bris itself.

Different mohels might recommend different things, but it's basically just a gauze pad. And you should only need a few of them. My DH is a mohel and he just gives the parents whatever they'll need instead of bothering them with a shopping list when they have a newborn and kimpetur to worry about and will only use a fraction of the package anyway!

Also, you can use whatever bacitracin you have at home, but if you happen to be out of it and are going to buy some just for this, we recommend getting the kind that comes with lidocaine. It numbs the pain in addition to the antibacterial property.

not sure if I'm too late but here's the list from my son's mohel site
•One bottle infant acetaminophen
•Two boxes sterile gauze pads, 25 each, 3×3 preferred
•Two ounces antibiotic ointment, name brand or generic
•Two disposable diapers and wipes
•One bed pillow, standard size
•One bottle sweet, red, kosher grape wine at room temperature
•One kiddush cup or wine goblet
•Kipot (yarmulkes) for your guests
•Table, waist high
•Hand sanitizer

Also change wet diapers frequently, helps with the pain.
