Usually, fiction. But that's in long book form. If in magazines, I like non-fiction better (if well written, but you don't have that problem  )
I also enjoy biographies that read like stories in book form (not usually in short articles).
I think of it like this:
When I read a long book, I want to curl up on the couch and escape or lie in bed and try to relax.
When I read a magazine, I'm only reading pieces here and there so the flow of a fiction story gets interrupted too much, but I do enjoy reading about a wide range of real life things, but that can be piecemeal.

True stories only !! Nothing like reading an amazing true story. I love all of the non fiction articles in magazines.

My favorite is historical fiction, which I guess is a little bit of both.
