1 pkg dry yeast
3/8 cup pareve milk
3/8 cup (hot/warm) water
mix then add
1 egg
2 tbs oil
1/3 cup sugar
mix again & add
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
use a kneading hook for final mixing
let rise 1 hour in bowl
dough will be sticky so use a lot of flour on surface & atop the dough & on rolling pin - gently roll [stress on the gentle cause remember the dough is sticky]
cut out with 2 1/2 inch glass cup or bottle cap for tiny bites [dipping in flour between cuts]
move/keep on liberally floured surface [cause you don't want them to burst when lifting them up]
let them rise again for 1 hour
deep fry till golden [they will puff up]
fill as desired [I cut the side half way cause it's easier (& quicker) than a syringe on the hands]
I usually let people fill it themselves & have a bowl of custard, a bowl of raspberry filling, some powdered sugar, some chocolate ganache, maple glaze
enjoy the yumm
[& thank my daughter who made me share]
{I always double the recipe}
[don't blame me if you can't cook/bake/fry]

I just tried sufganiyot at home tonight, I've never flopped a recipe so badly in my life. I'm not sure if it's because I used 70% whole wheat flour, or if I didn't really mix the yeast with warm water first (it said instant yeast!) they were hard rock-cakes, I was totally in denial about it and proceeded to dip them in chocolate glaze. I'll try this recipe and see if it helps, where do you think I went wrong?

did you mix the yeast with anything? sounds like they didn't rise
it's not the whole wheat flour since you didn't use 100%
but I do try to write my recipes for easy following ... so I hope you have more luck with these

How much yeast is in a package?
EDIT: I looked it up, it's 2 1/4 tsp yeast.

There was another version of this floating around with an extra 2 Tbsp. water.
So I made them. Yes, they're very liquidy and in the rolling out I added a bit more flour. But they came out marvelously!

I assure you there is nothing healthy about vegan doughnuts ... it is fried starchy carbs with sugars if you add fillings or toppings
on the other hand her petite lean body can absorb the fats ... and I neither wish to be greek nor zavtig
