As anyone seen hazelnut oil for Pesach this year? I bought it last year here in Chicago and loved it for baking. So far this year, none of the local stores have it and they all looked at me like I was crazy when I asked. Is it available in NY? If so, what brand? It think last year's it was Liebers, but I'm not sure.
TIA.

They have it here in E"Y. It is on sale for 18nis a bottle (limit 3) with a 75nis purchase at Zol B'Shefa. If you have anyone coming this way maybe they could bring it for you.

You guys are just trying to scare me, because I haven't thought about shopping yet.
Where did you try?
In any case, it should be available.

That's really a shame. I really liked it so much for baking. I guess I'll have to use safflower oil instead.

I do have kids coming from EY, but I can't ask them to bring bottles of oil (imagine if it were to open up or break in the suitcase -- as well as the weight issue!).
Thanks.

They could freeze it before they travel and double bag it. Wrap it in clothing and it should still be mostly frozen when they arrive. I would do it for you if I were coming...

Thanks for the link; at least I know I'm not crazy. I'm going to show the link to the stores I shop in. All 3 of our local stores had it last year (though I'm not sure if it was this brand), and none do this year.

Ask the stores about it- some years its available, some yrs its not.
I also like it for baking- keeps things so moist, but I hate it for frying....
what do you use for frying on pessach?

I asked there and both the owner and manager looked at me like I was crazy that they'd never heard of it.

If anyone sees it in any store in Lakewood, please let me know as I have kids coming from there who I could ask to bring it.

I'm not surprised...but it was on the shelves.
I should have grabbed bottles when I saw them.

I was in one of the stores today for something I forgot yesterday, and now it was on the shelf (this is store where the owner and the manager had no idea what I was talking about!) -- Gefen in both 48 oz. & 96 oz. sizes, so I am all set.
Thanks everyone for the ideas.

If you want some hazelnut oil shipped from Chicago, I'll send you some (Gefen).
