So normally I purchase extra virgin olive oil, cold pressed, first squeeze. This does not need a hechsher according to what I learned.

My kids bought regular olive oil Filippo Berio and we've been using it for the past couple of weeks. Sonny boy noticed it didn't have an OU. I've been trying to reach the powers that be for several days to no avail. Now I'm wondering if anybody else has any knowledge as to this brand being kosher without a symbol? The information I found on line seems to lead to all their oils being solely 100% olive oil.

There can still be issues with the refining process and the containers that the oil is held in, even if it is 100% olive oil.

Here is an explanation:

You can call the Star K and they will tell you if a particular product is recommended or not. 410-484-4110.
