I'm trying to find melatonin drops that I can give my baby (one time use kind of thing, not on a regular basis obviously...) and can't seem to find one that gives a dosage amt for children. I know people use it for kids, do they just not write the dosage since you have to ask a doctor?

I found this one http://www.koshervitamins.com/.....fl-oz anyone know if this is ok for a 1yo? and what dosage I would use? TIA!

Why don't you ask your dr? Giving melatonin to kids in general makes me nervous, but especially for such a young child.

Please don't give melatonin to a baby. It's an amino acid and there are no safe levels listed because no one knows safe levels, not even for adults. I've personally over-taken an amino acid and nearly lost sight in one eye. Amino acids can become toxic very quickly. They don't exit the body very easily.

Stick with herbs. They are safer. But even then, you need to be careful.

For a 1 year old, I'd use chamomile tea. Or, there are herbal drops with a mix of chamomile and valerian and passiflora, called Dr Reckenwig's R14.

What do you need this for???

"Bach flower remedies" or "rescue remedies night" are totally safe and effective for any age.

Call your pediatrician. He might have something better for you to use. Or go to a health food store and ask for advice.

I see. No, there are much better, much safer things to use. Melatonin is not for every brain type either, and for some people it actually increases anxiety and/or anger.

Before you try anything for a plane trip, try it once at home, first. Some things work the opposite of what you'd expect on some brains. Anyway, I understand your worry about finding something to use, though, because flying is very difficult. You could ask your doctor for something. I don't know if they'll give anything for such a young age, though.

Are you in the US? If so, check out the sleepy time tea. In Israel, the R14.

Have you ever had to use benedryl or fenistil drops for your child? Advil? Those would be safer, to me, than melatonin. If they work for your child.
