Wow.
My husband planned a huge family barbecue for his non religious relatives and thanks to someone on here who reminded me that the date he picked is TZOM GEDALIA.
DH will be spending the next 12 hours contacting relatives to cancel the barbecue told him to reschedule for Sukkos.
Poor guy. He contacted his relatives in July for this barbecue in September.
That's one less thing for me to deal with...
Yay for me. Sad for hubby.

so much food!!! how many people are you cooking for? |
My husband likes meat and I like chicken, and my kids are also very picky. So my family is 4, and then so far the first and second meal we are having two guests, the third three, and the fourth four. But that could always change

Thanks. Far Rockaway is not generally one of my scheduled stops, but I may reconsider on my next trip to the States. (I do have a sister in Queens).

crispy fried onions- really taste best fresh
slice a spanish onion into rings- not super thin, medium
toss in a bowl with 1/2 cup flour and salt, pepper to taste
heat oil half way up the pot in a small sauce pan, fry in batches until brown and crispy, drain on paper towels, enjoy on top of steak or mashed potatoes, or out of the pan like we do.
garlic mashed potatoes
1 bag of yukon gold potato's- peeled and cut into quarters
cook in salted water until tender, drain most of liquid, reserve some on the side mash
add 2-3 head roasted garlic, some pareve sour cream, 1-2 tblsp marg/olive oil, enough cooking liquid to make it moist. some kosher salt and fresh ground pepper
how to roast garlic-
slice tops off of heads of garlic, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, bake at 400 for about 40 minutes until golden, squeeze the cloves out of the head and use in garlic mashed potatoes, or on challah with a sprinkle of kosher salt
Gravy
brown about 2 tblsp oil and flour in a sauce pan, slowly whisk in 1-2 cups chicken stock, 1/2 tsp of dijon mustard, salt, pepper, some kitchen bouquet, let simmer until slightly thickened, serve with mashed potatoes, or steak

It's store bought
though I imagine that with a food processor it shouldn't be too difficult to make... zucchini, garlic, onion, some spices, & mayo.

pomegranate slush- big hit- pour two cups pomegranate juice and one cup grape juice into a plastic container- freeze , scrape with a large metal fork to make slush and serve, was a refreshing treat which looked pretty and my kids ate it as treats the whole yom tov, It took about one minute to make, 3 to scrape servings.
apple wonton's- recipe from overtimecook.com- was good, much better fresh then reheated.
caramel bundt cake recipe is from this site- always goes over well, just let the glaze thicken before you pour it, and then scoop up what drips into the middle and repour again
crispy veal bacon- they sell veal bacon at my supermarket, I lay it out flat in a pan, sprinkle with a drop of brown sugar and bake a 425 until curled up and crispy. was yum, leftovers I made into a salad with baby spinach, pomegranate seeds, carrot curls and creamy ceasar dressing- it was heavenly.

it wasnt me who posted. it was eema of 3 |
woops eema of 3- sorry for misquoting you, but pretty please can you post?? |
so sorry- I just saw this as I was reading through to find some good succos recipes
here you go
White chocolate rice krispie fingers
4 ½ c rice krispies
2/3 c butter
¼ c sugar
4 TBSP honey
4 TBSP cocoa
White chocolate layer
12oz white chocolate, chopped
5 ¼oz heavy cream
3 TBSP milk
1 tsp gelatin
Preheat to 320, line 11x14 pan with parchment paper
Spread rice krispies into an 11x14 pan. Roast for 7 mins.
Heat butter, sugar, and honey in a pot. Add cocoa, and cook for a few seconds until
everything melts. Remove from fire. Add rice krispies and mix well. Pour immediately
into lined pan and spread with a spatula until smooth and even. Let stand at room temp
until completely firm.
While that’s cooling, place white chocolate in a bowl. Heat cream in a sauce pan until
almost boiling. Pour cream onto chocolate and wait one minute. Wait one minute, and
then mix until it is smooth. If it doesn’t melt completely, put the whole mixture in the
microwave for a few seconds.
Place 3 TBSP milk in a cup. Pour gelatin over milk. Let it stand for 5 minutes until
firm.
Pour boiling water into a small bowl. Keeping the gelatin in the cup, place the cup
inside the water and mix until gelatin is completely dissolved. Remove from bowl.
Pour 2 TBSP white chocolate into the gelatin and dissolve well. Pour mixture into the
bowl of chocolate cream and mix well. Pour cream over rice krispies. Refrigerate at
least 2 hours until firm.
Remove at least 30 mins before serving. Slice into bars using a sharp, non serrated
knife.
