can someone clarify this? I thought yapchik is chulent with potato kugel ontop? whats this meat on bottom and then kugel. I make chulent that has water the kugel will float to top and not have enough moisture. please help me with this? I did a search here and I didnt come up with anything. thanks in advance

It's not cholent. It is potato kugel with meat mixed in (sometimes also kishka). There are various variations and recipes, but that's the idea.

Yapsuk was originally a Polish potato cholent containing shredded potatoes, onions and meat.
I make the original, which is like the one I tasted at my aunt's house years ago, thanks to realeez, who so graciously posted her method on imamother.
The potato kugel/flanken dish is great too.
