Ds, 2.5 has red eyes. Tantrums all afternoon. Or cuddles next to me.
He wakes aprox 6:30am. Bedtime routine begins at 8. He's rarely asleep before 9.
He used to nap at 2pm. But since sept hAs been laying in bed restlessly for 10 min the getting out of bed or fussing. But still not falling asleep any sooner.
He lays in bed restlessly and... But can't fall asleep.
What to do???

Is it possible to start the bedtime routine any earlier?

Tried. He doesn't fall asleep before 9 pm regardless.
So earlier bedtime just means more laying in bed restlessly

I could have written this post! I'm going crazy trying to get my 2.5 yr/old to sleep earlier. Especially over yom tov when things were SOO crazy. I'm not sure if I have any great ideas, but I've been trying to give him a little melatonin, just to help regulate his sleep schedule--since if he's overtired, then it's twice the battle to get him to settle down.

My toddler is exactly the same. She will only nap as long as I lay down next to her. I sneak out if I don't fall asleep. Very Happy

and my four year old is the same. By the time 8 am rolls around he is having tantrums and rubbing his eyes because he is tired. Too old/not enough time for a nap and won't go to sleep earlier or wake up later. I'm stumped

It feels better knowing I'm not the only one with this problem. And worse thinking the prob may persist past age 4?!
