I went out and looked for this boy, personally and with my children while I was pregnant and sick. I went out the second day he was missing. I posted flyers and even had them taped to my car! I lost sleep over this. It didn't matter to me that he wasn't Jewish. As a parent, the thought of sending my child to school and never seeing him return again just bothered me so much. I cried an searched.
I know some people who do not feel they need to help unless a person is Jewish. I don't know where the learned this from but a child is a child and we must so our best to protect all of them. I wish this would have turned out better. So sad.
