I went to the bookstore yesterday. There were so many new books. I did not know what to choose. What do you recommend?

There is only one "best Jewish book". It's superiority is so obvious that even nonJews call it "the Good Book".

The Bible is referred to by many Christians as the "Good Book."

I'm offended. They should be calling it The Best Book.

Back in the day, that was the Sears Catalog. Which was often used for purposes that we HOPE no one was using the Good Book for.

You know, lovely1, you might get more helpful responses if you put in a little more effort into your question. Why should we do all the work? If you said "I'm looking for a gift for myself , I'm partial to (fill in genres of interest to you) and I'm a fan of (fill in Jewish authors whose work you enjoy) and I'm looking for something (light and entertaining or morally improving or what have you) and I can spend up to $X", THEN maybe someone would be able to suggest something. But throw out a question like "there are so many books, what's the best?" is a sign of a very lazy mind.

Besides, "best" is a matter of opinion. You could have asked "what Jewish novels have you read and enjoyed recently?" and I'm sure you'd have gotten many, many responses.

As long as I live is the best book I read this year.

Just read Diamond Dust by Riva Pomerantz and thought that was good. All her books are good esp Green Fences.

I read as long as I live and Green Fences. They were both very good books. Maybe I'll try Diamond Dust this time.
Thank you to all that responded with book titles.

OP, does it have to be new? Are you really up on everything?
What were the last books you read that you liked, so we'll have an idea of what's your cuppa?
