This morning when my magazine was delivered, the plastic was opened and there was an envelope with a card inside. Its a Seasons Greetings card, with a return envelope, already with a stamp and an address to return it back, and a post it from the delivery man! It says his name and then "magazine delivery man". He is obviously telling me that he wants me to send it back with a tip.

This happened a few months ago also, around August, when I first started getting it in the mail. I called the Mishpacha office and they looked into it and said they had no idea why he put in an envelope and apologized and said to ignore it.

He is asking for a tip. Did any of you also get this? Are they supposed to solicit for tips this way? With a self addressed stamped return envelope?

It's common practice for delivery boys.
Not just with Mishpacha.

I've gotten such envelopes for the past 3 years from my Hamodia delivery guy. I always send some money as a thank you, and as a Happy Holiday gesture. (Just like I give my regular mailman and sanitation workers once a year).

Supposedly the magazine is not aware of this. How much do I give?

I tip my mailman $5, same for any magazine subscription when I had one.
