Breakfast Strata or Fancy French Toast
from Family circle

sun dried tomatoes
sausages, pareve
pepper or other vegetables; I used eggplant but spinach would be good, mushrooms too
loaf bread, cubed
8 eggs
cup milk
basil leaves
2 cups shredded cheese

Cut half a cup of sun dried tomatoes up and crumble your sausage; heat with 2 cups of cubed peppers. Place bread into pan and add 8 beaten eggs, the milk, and 1/3 cup herby leaves, cut up. Add the sausage mixture and sprinkle with half the cheese. Pour egg and milk over all ingredients and let sit in fridge overnight.

The next day, heat your oven to 350 and add the rest of the cheese. Bake an hour at 350.

Yum. This sounds great. I make a French Toast Casserole that's to die for. DD#1 says that you will find this at every special occasion in Memphis:

Melt a stick of butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar in 1/2 cup real maple syrup (not pancake syrup). Pour into a 9x13 pan and sprinkle with chopped pecans. You can use other nuts or no nuts at all. It's up to you but in Memphis they wouldn't be caught dead with any nut other than pecans. In a separate bowl whisk together 8 eggs, 1 1/2 cups half and half (you could use milk but it won't be as rich. Still good, but not as good), some cinnamon, a spoonful of vanilla. Layer a 1lb sliced loaf of challah on the pan and pour the milk/egg mixture over it. Cover and put in the frig overnight. Uncover, and bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Invert onto a serving platter to serve. Looks beautiful, tastes even better!
