I lost 50 pounds after my son was born.
I did it on weight watchers and it was hard work but totally worth it.

My mother and MIL both recently lost over 100 pounds each. They did it on Medifast (one of these meal replacement systems). I don't love it because there is a TON of soy which makes me nervous -- but I must admit it really worked for them.

The only diet you can lose on and keep the weight off longterm is a lifestyle change that you can follow forever. I know many that successfully lost with meal replacement diets but they all gained it back plus more and the worst part is studies show yo-yo weight flucuations are really bad for the body, changing your metabolism for the worse so it will be harder to lose weight in the future. Replacing meals do nothing to ensure the quality of food that you are eating as well as they are not a long term solution as you will not drink them forever. and they are not a lifestyle change. I suggest a whole foods diet/primal/paleo for a sure way to lose as much weight as you need as long as you are willing to make lifelong changes.

When I was 12 and again at 26, I lost over 90 pounds on WW.
If you need to lose over 100 , have you considered the band

I lost over 70 lbs on WW 10 years ago and b"h, with lots of siyata d'shmaya, have kept it off by counting my points every day and doing lots of exercise.

I had a gastric bypass in July 2010. B"H have kept it off so far. I monitor my weight very closely and have a VERY active and busy life.

Highly recommend the book Eat To Live( by Dr. Joel Fuhrman I think)

Another vote for ww. Lost about 50 lbs so far and would love to lose 50 more. Counting points really does work.

My husband lost over 70 lbs in about a year, became a personal trainer, and is now studying excercise nutrition.
What I learned from him is the importance of of being 100 percent commited.
Also, excercises such as the treadmill or eliptical are joke compared with resistance training (specifically high intensity interval training)
And the best kinds of diets are ones that are low in carbs and high in protein, and healthy fats actually help you lose. He says eat more calories from fat then from carbs! Carbs just get stored as fat, while healthy fats are essential for bodily functions.
U can pm me if u want me to adk him something specific.

Amother who lost over 70lbs on WW here.
Counting the points still works for me, 10 years on.
It gives me that feeling of control that I need and allows me to eat whatever I want as long as I stay within my food budget.
