I'm unexpectedly cooking dinner for a family this afternoon, I want to do minimal washing up, mixing etc. If I make meatballs from meat, and only meat, how will they come out?
I plan on baking for a short time, and then adding to the sauce....

Would you consider spaghetti and meat sauce? Simple version is to brown the beef and then add marinara sauce. Cook and serve with pasta.

They will probably fall apart.

You can add seltzer as a binding agent.

I always make meatballs with just meat. Though I do sprinkle on lots of spices if I have the time, then just make into balls. I don't even use a bowl, just sprinkle it straight onto the styrofoam with meat. Then make into balls.

They don't fall apart, but better to cook them in the sauce, as opposed to baking them first as they can dry out if you bake too long.

meat sauce is a lot easier cause you don't need to add anything but spices, onions & garlic - once browned you add the bottle of sauce & voila

potentially serves more as well - cause you don't have to divvy up the meatballs ... nor do you have to stand over the pot & shape

The balls stay together if you put it the sauce when the sauce is hot and the fire on. I always do it this way.

Thanks ladies for all your ideas, you all helped me do a chesed in a hurry!

I think they're a success....

The meat sauce idea would have been fabulous, if it weren't for the fact that it won't fly with my kids!

It might be too late to add, but sprinkling some cornflake or bread crumbs can work as a bonding agent so that it shouldn't fall apart
