Depends who.
What age? The best baby presents I received were the toys.

you spend whats in your budget for that close of a friend and no more.

If you can affoed to get her something really nice then do it. if an outfit is what you can do do that. I have gotten very expensive gifts and very cheap ones and appericated them all. About the only ones I did not care for were very very cheap obvious regifts that were out of season clothing. and even them I smiled and said thanks.

I would say an outfit a few sizes larger than needed now. When we got baby gifts everything was 3-6 and 6-9 months . One person got us this really cute shabbos 2T outfit and it was great to have something new and cute when the baby was that size! And those sizes fit for a while so its less worry about seasons

I still say a toy. You can get him a walker for around $20 and she'll really appreciate it, just make sure to include a gift receipt.

I bought this for my friend when she had a baby! She loved it! its a big one piece toy so you dont have to worry about picking up/losing all the little pieces. Dont remember if it takes batteries but if it does then my friend never put them in so its great for shabbos!
