I've noticed people don't give as much gifts after the first kid. I don't think we got a single gift besides from my parents and inlaws for my second kid.
Cash gifts given to my DC when they were born went into bank accounts for them. It was never a lot of money, but it was there and able to grow. And the kids really liked having a bank account like the grown ups so they could add money to it when they got more gifts later on.
